Quickstart: publisher

Get a MotherShy wall live in front of your site in five minutes. This quickstart uses the Node.js middleware (works for any Express/Node app); the full six-platform guide is here.

Prerequisites

  • A site you control (for this quickstart, a Node app).
  • A MotherShy account (register in the dashboard).

1. Claim and verify your domain

  1. Log in to the publisher dashboard and choose Register a site.
  2. Enter your domain (e.g. example.com). MotherShy returns a DNS TXT challenge.
  3. Add the record to your DNS:
text
_mothershy.example.com  TXT  "mothershy-site-verification=<token>"
  1. Click Verify. MotherShy checks the record and issues your site's keys.

2. Install the middleware

bash
npm install ./mothershy-wall-0.1.0.tgz # from the dashboard download, or:
# npm install @mothershy/wall

Mount it in your Express app:

js
import { mothershy } from '@mothershy/wall'

app.use(mothershy({
  siteId: 'example.com', // your verified site
  rootPub: 'OINUtFdXQHzeGJrrGFSwTm3DRG0D/KPlY9sYgJfMkS8=', // pinned Mother root
  priceMicroUsd: 0,                            // 0 = free for now
}))

That's the whole wall. Humans pass through; un-enrolled agents get a 402.

3. Turn on payment (optional)

Set a price to gate agents with an x402 challenge instead of a plain 402:

js
priceMicroUsd: 250,   // US$0.0025 per access
payTo: '0x…', // your payout address (Base Sepolia USDC)

4. Confirm it works

bash
# human (browser) → 200
curl -A "Mozilla/5.0 … Chrome/120.0" https://example.com/ -o /dev/null -w "%{http_code}\n"

# agent (curl) → 402
curl https://example.com/ -o /dev/null -w "%{http_code}\n"

# search bot → 200
curl -A "Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; Googlebot/2.1; +http://www.google.com/bot.html)" https://example.com/ -o /dev/null -w "%{http_code}\n"
