What is MotherShy?

MotherShy is the economic operating layer for AI agents and publishers on the web. It gives every AI agent a single identity and wallet that works across any website, and gives every publisher a way to monetize agent traffic — without ripping out their existing stack.

The core idea: one agent, one identity, one wallet, any compatible wall.

  • An agent enrolls once, gets a root-anchored identity and a spend key, and uses it to access any site that runs a MotherShy wall.
  • A publisher drops a small wall in front of their existing site and immediately starts accepting — and being paid by — MotherShy agents, while human readers pass through untouched.

The thesis

"MotherShy speaks whatever the website already speaks." There is no universal protocol the whole internet has to adopt. Instead, MotherShy owns the agent's economic relationship and adapts to the payment rails that already exist — and builds its own wall for publishers who have none.

Why it matters

AI agents are scraping the web faster than publishers can react. The result is a broken default:

  • Publishers serve their content to bots for free, with no signal, no consent, and no revenue — while their own costs (compute, storage, authoring) keep rising.
  • Agents have no standard way to pay for access even when they'd happily do so. Every site reinvents auth, rate limits, or blocklists, and there's no portable credential.

MotherShy fixes the economics in both directions. It's not a scraper-blocker and not a paywall company — it's the identity and payment layer that lets agents and publishers transact.

What MotherShy is not

  • Not a scraper blocker. Humans, search engines, and link-preview bots always pass. Only un-enrolled AI agents are gated — and then recruited, not punished.
  • Not a payment processor. Money moves between funder and publisher over existing rails (x402, MPP, Pay Per Crawl). MotherShy never holds your funds.
  • Not a universal protocol. It doesn't require the web to adopt anything. It sits above the rails that already exist.
